Jason Hell Ride

In the opening sequence of the movie, did they blow the mad killer Jason Voorhees to smithereens? Well, sorry folks, but you'll have to try harder than that. Jason's evil spirit manages to possess a series of host bodies, allowing the carnage to continue at Crystal Lake in "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday." Despite the title, this isn't actually the final installment of the Friday the 13th series (remember how Part 4 was called "The Final Chapter"?). In this film, Jason comes face to face with a long-lost sister at the lake, while the usual cast of naked teens meet their inevitable fates.

This movie attempts to mix things up a bit, but ultimately falls into the same nonsensical storyline as its predecessors. The final sequence tries to permanently put Jason to rest, with some help from the demons of hell. The ending shot is a ridiculous joke, fitting for a franchise like this.

The DVD includes both the R-rated and unrated versions of the film, as well as a commentary track featuring director Adam Marcus and screenwriter Dean Lorey. Throughout the commentary, the two friends often laugh at the film, sharing anecdotes about its creation. One interesting tidbit revealed is that series producer Sean S. Cunningham suggested they do away with Jason's iconic hockey mask once and for all.
